You can collect information from your customer to create their customised document by using Questions and Answers in the flow.

  1. Click on the point immediately before the point in the flow where you want the information collected from your customer to go;

  2. Click the grey plus sign to the right;

  3. Click the green question mark button.

A green Question point and a blue Answer point will appear.

To edit your Question (i.e. to add in your question text), click on the pencil mark on the green Question point. Give the Question a label which will jog your memory as to what the Question is (the customers who use the interview will not see this label), and then write the full text of the question in the Question body section. Hit 'complete' to save your Question.

A word about Question Labels: Each Question Label should be "unique" because this allows you to identify the token that relates to that particular Question. This is important for when you are adding the Question's answer to the document output, or, using the token in the interview.

Want to know the difference between a 'user-input' and a 'multi-choice' question? Scroll on!

Multi-choice Questions

Multi-choice questions can have a simple "yes" or "no" answer option, or, there can be two or more multi choice type answers.

Every Question is automatically pre-populated with one Answer point. There are two ways of adding additional Answer points to the Question (to turn the question into a multi choice question):

  1. Click on the Question point, press the grey plus sign to the right, then press the blue Answer button; or

  2. Click on the pre-populated answer point, press the grey plus sign to the left, and press the blue answer button.

  3. Add as many answer buttons as you want.

Here is an example of a multi-choice Question, allowing the user to choose between three types of pie:

To edit your Answer points:

  1. Click the blue pencil mark on your first Answer to go into the editing screen;

  2. Give the answer a Label which the end user will see as one of their choices (e.g. "Yes", "Blueberry", etc);

  3. You then need to set a value for the answer. The  Answer value is how the answer will appear in the document (if required), e.g. "blueberry pie". For a simple yes/no question, the value will usually be identical to the label.

When editing your answer point it will look like this:

And this is how the answer "Blueberry Pie", along with the other options will appear in the interview:

User-Input Questions

These are questions which require the end user to type in an answer, for example "what is your name?".

To allow your end-user to type in their answer, you need to:

  1. Click on the pre-populated blue Answer point following the Question, then click on the pencil mark;

  2. Give the answer a relevant Label which will help the user structure their answer the way you need them to. For example, "Your name is:" or simply "Name:";

  3. Bypass the 'answer value' section and head on down to the 'allow user input' toggle and give it a click.

Click the toggle to allow user input:
